Working on a recent project for a client, it became clear to that we needed to hack the standard JomSocial registration process to capture extra user information during the registration process.  Crucially - this data needed to be stored in Joomla's jos_user table, and not JomSocial's own external tables.

We couldn't find any step-by-step guides on the internet, so we've shared our findings with you here:

One of the slight drawbacks of using Joomla as a CMS platform versus Wordpress and Drupal is its lack of a native commenting system for its blogs and articles.  Commenting is a crucial part of social networking and a great way to improve your link building and SEO.

The problem: When you try and log in to your Joomla site (even on the admin section @ /administrator/index.php), you get an 'invalid token' error.

This is a known issue with some templates using Joomla 1.5x, and it can be fixed with a simple modification to the template code.

After spending quite a bit of time getting Virtuemart and SH404SEF to work together nicely for a project, we needed a way to make sure Search Engine Friendly URLs are implemented in your VirtueMart store in Joomla 1.5.
